Rock Music Shops.

Here are some of the Rock music oriented shops and stalls that you may want to purchase some of your favourite sounds. Always check out the second hand sections of the shop (if it has one). It may save you a lot of spending money and include some sounds you may not be able to buy new anymore. Try to avoid the big chain-stores and support the local small businesses. The staff at these places also usually know what you’re asking about…

Georges Street Arcade is recommended as a good base to do most of your shopping.  It is one of the few places in Dublin that has retained it’s charm that was destroyed when big business barged in and took over. It has a good variety of shops and stalls. It’s just a shame it can’t be bigger like Camden is in London.

Freebird records:  New and used Indie, Alternative, Punk and some Metal. Wicklow Street (inside and beside Secret Book Store) and Crown Alley (Temple bar).

Record Collecter Basement:  Opposite the Secret Book Store (and basement level). Has a great selection of Live recordings of so many bands. Check it out for your favourites. Wicklow Street.

Sound Cellar:  Metal, Alternative and Indie.  Nassau Street.

Spindizzy/ Macs Records:  Both of these shops are located in the same shopping Arcade and sell Indie, Alternative, and some Metal. Spindizzy also sell various Dance. Georges Street Arcade.

Abbey Discs:  Dance, Indie and Alternative. Some Metal. Liffey Street.

Rock Music Clothes:

Asha:  Used to be a great fetish and rock clothes shop. These days it seems to only cater for those whinging depressed Emo types. Way too big t-shirts and baggy unflattering trousers anyone? Not too expensive though. Located in and on the site that used to be Dublins greatest market, ‘The Dandelion Market’, a truly amazing place that alas, is no more. R.I.P. (Stephens Green Shopping Center).

Wildchild:  Indie and Retro gear.  Georges Street and also Crow Street (Temple Bar).

Flip:  Another shop that has seen better times and sold better stuff. Retro and current stuff. Also check the surrounding shops on this street. Most are connected and sell different trends. Fownes Street (Temple Bar).

Hysteria:  Fetish and kinky shit. Fownes Street (Temple Bar).

Miss Fantasia:  Sex Shop. More Fetish and kinky shit.  Over 18’s only.  William Street South.
